Objectives

The Observatory will monitor the short-, medium- and long- term impacts of drivers of change on food security that integrate ECO-READY’s key products and approaches to allow European regulators, food producers and citizen to test and explore, in a holistic manner, mitigation measures to anticipate on climate change to achieve a truly sustainable food supply and ensure food security.

Organization

The observatory will offer a general section with information to all interested groups and in addition provide specific sections to

  • Farmers
  • Citizens
  • Policy
  • Industry
The modules within each section will be co-designed with their specific user groups integrating LCA results employing various engagement strategies. An innovative business plan prototype will be developed and tested via focus groups with key stakeholders representing various European regions. This prototype is expected to incorporate both business and sustainability dimensions and it will be constantly updated to ensure that appropriate value co-creation opportunities are captured. In conclusion, the project will identify possible funding sources required to bring this Observatory to fruition.

Mobile application

A mobile application will support food security, biodiversity and climate change concepts towards societal engagement and transformation.
The application will be equipped with multiple features including:
games to familiarize users with food security and environmentally friendly practices,
eco-news for European and national events and initiatives,
household planning tools for the purchase and consumption of food
calculators translating food consumption into GHG emissions, health benefits, water contamination, and impact to regional biodiversity and genetic resources of plants and animals.
